After 7 years in medical device development, Johan moved into data science where he specialised in machine learning with a focus on image and audio classification. He has professional experience in launching commercial AI software solutions and building end to end data science products.

Mark has been a farmer for most of his professional career. But in 2007, he made a dramatic shift and started a successful specialised care facility. He has since hired hundreds of employees in the caregiving and nursing professions, which has enabled him to provide essential insights into our users.

Max is a specialist in internal medicine with 8+ years of experience as a clinician. He received the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarship to attend the University of Oxford where he received his MBA (with distinction). Max has experience working at the intersection of innovation, technology, and medicine in South Africa, where he has led numerous research and innovation initiatives.

Amber brings over six years of diverse experience in the biomedical industry, having worked across engineering, quality, and regulatory departments. Amber’s experience and background allow her to drive strategic initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of compliance and innovation.

Holding a BEng from Stellenbosch University and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, Luca specialises in machine learning and embedded systems. His experience in IoT system design, on-device ML, and federated learning brings a unique intersection of hardware, software, and data science background to the medical-tech industry.

Shanell is a Quality and Regulatory Affairs Specialist with six years of experience in the medical device industry. She has worked across the full product lifecycle, supporting regulatory submissions, quality system implementation, and compliance with global standards. Shanell is driven by a commitment to continuous improvement and patient safety.

Abida brings over a decade of experience in office management within the MedTech sector, supporting high-growth teams and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. With a strong background in administrative leadership and organizational efficiency, she plays a key role in keeping the AI Diagnostics engine running smoothly behind the scenes.

Ethan is a machine learning engineer specializing in developing and optimizing classification models for medical diagnostics. After completing his thesis on hand gesture recognition using signal processing and machine learning, he set out to apply these skills to impactful challenges in healthcare. With a strong background in large-scale ML experimentation, signal processing, and backend engineering, he’s driven by the goal of using technology to improve lives and deliver impactful solutions in the medical field.

Richard is an experienced, successful startup founder turned investor, advisor and mentor at Oxford Capital. His skills include building and managing the strategies, products, teams and processes necessary to enable and scale startups.

Malcolm started his career as a scientist. He then moved into quality assurance and regulatory affairs. After being the regulatory lead for a number of medical device companies, he started his own regulatory consulting firm, RegZAmed.

Jamie Arkin brings over a decade of experience building and leading organizations tackling some of the most pressing health challenges across the Global South. She has led the introduction of new technologies, including AI and ML, to improve health outcomes, and is known for her ability to bridge global partnerships with local impact. She brings deep expertise in strategy, team leadership, and cross-sector partnership development, with a strong focus on innovation and systems change. With an MPH and experience working in social enterprises, Jamie works to integrate private sector thinking into public health challenges.
